Changu Chengezi, one of our Bikram Yoga instructors. Changu is hosting a floor series workshop this Saturday, March 24 from 3-6 PM for those who want to deep dive into their practice!
How did you come to know and love yoga?
From a Groupon. I found a Groupon for 5 Bikram Yoga classes for $20 in Toronto when I was working there. The studio would do massive sales and I didn’t know anything about yoga, I just knew it was good for flexibility. At that time, I was doing dance and theatre pretty seriously, and I saw yoga as a way to improve.
What is your favourite posture?
The whole Bikram Yoga sequence is my favourite. Picking a favourite is like saying you don’t love one part of someone that you love! You love people as a whole. That’s how I feel about the sequence.
What is your favourite food?
It’s kombucha! I’m surviving on kombucha right now. I love healthy, vegetarian and preferably vegan food. Indian and Pakistani style of cooking is my favourite.
Where is your favourite spot in Kitchener-Waterloo?
Truly, Midtown Yoga is my happy place, like the sign in the lobby says. I feel like myself here and I love being here.
